In the Indian market, the Maruti Swift hatchback has always been dominant. This car, which fits into the budget of the common man, has seen a steady increase in sales year after year. Recently, Maruti launched the new-gen Swift. After its release in May 2024, over 35,000 units of this car have already been sold.
However, there is a surprising news regarding the safety of the 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift. In fact, the 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift received a 3-star safety rating in the Euro NCAP crash test, which is not in line with the car’s reputation.
Euro NCAP Crash Test Results
The Europe-spec Maruti Swift hatchback received a 67% score in Adult Occupant Protection with a total of 26.9 points. Meanwhile, it achieved a 65% score in Child Occupant Protection with a total of 32.1 points.
2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift Safety Features
The Europe-spec Suzuki Swift comes with more safety features than the Indian-spec Swift, yet the car has only received a 3-star safety rating. It includes features such as dual front airbags, ADAS, a seatbelt reminder system, and ISOFIX.
However, the Indian-spec Maruti Suzuki Swift does not come with the ADAS feature. It includes safety features such as 6 airbags, hill hold assist, ESP, ABS with EBD, and a reverse camera for parking. Overall, the Indian Swift has fewer features compared to the international model.
It is worth mentioning that the starting price of the new-generation Swift in the Indian market is ₹6.49 lakh (ex-showroom). It comes with several updates compared to the previous model, including a new engine.
Powertrain
The 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift comes with the latest Z-series 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder petrol engine. This engine generates 80 bhp of power and 112 Nm of torque. It is worth noting that the Swift also comes with hybrid technology in the global market.
The new Maruti Suzuki Swift is known for its mileage. The manual model delivers a mileage of 24.80 km/l, while the automatic variant is capable of achieving a mileage of 25.75 km/l.
Talking about features, the Maruti Suzuki Swift comes with a 9-inch infotainment screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, auto climate control, a semi-digital instrument cluster, and a wireless charger. According to reports, the 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift will also undergo a safety test under the BNCP soon.
