Citroen Basalt
Several cars from the French company Citroen are being sold in the Indian market. Additionally, Citroen is soon going to expand its lineup by introducing the new Basalt Coupe SUV in the domestic market. This car has been spotted multiple times during testing on Indian roads. It is worth mentioning that it will compete with the upcoming Tata Curvv SUV.
According to media reports, Citroen India is going to unveil the brand-new coupe SUV 'Basalt,' based on the C3 Aircross, on the upcoming 2nd of August. Additionally, the prices of this car may be revealed next month.
It is believed that the ex-showroom price of the Basalt SUV will be between ₹11 to ₹12 lakh. The front design of the new Basalt SUV is similar to that of the C3 Aircross. It features a coupe-like roof with a smooth, sloping rear side.
Features of the Citroen Basalt
The Basalt SUV is designed with an attractive look. It features the Citroen logo, an innovative grille, a dual-tone bumper, flip-style door handles, LED taillamps, and squared-off wheel arches, all of which enhance the car's appearance.
This car will be a 5-seater. It will come equipped with a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, automatic climate control, wireless charging, keyless entry, cruise control, and electrically folding wing mirrors.
Powerful Engine
The Citroen Basalt coupe SUV will come with a 1.2 turbo petrol engine. This engine will be capable of generating a maximum power of 110 PS and a peak torque of 205 Nm. It may be offered with a 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox option.
It is also likely that the Citroen Basalt will feature front-wheel drive technology. For safety, the new Citroen Basalt coupe SUV is expected to include advanced features such as 6 airbags, TPMS, ABS, front and rear cameras, and ESC.
Competition with Tata Curvv
The Citroen Basalt will compete with the upcoming Tata Curvv SUV. Tata Motors just unveiled their new Curvv SUV yesterday, and the car will officially be launched on August 7.
According to reports, the electric version of the Tata Curvv will be launched first. After that, the petrol and diesel variants of the Tata Curvv will be introduced. The Tata Curvv electric car will feature a powerful 55 kWh battery pack.
On a single charge, you will be able to cover up to 550 kilometers with the Tata Curvv electric version. Meanwhile, the ICE model will come with a 1.2-liter petrol engine and a 1.5-liter turbo diesel engine. These engines may be offered with a 6-speed manual or a DCT (dual-clutch transmission) gearbox option.
