Mahindra XEV 9S Launch Tomorrow: Key Battery & Range Details

Mahindra is all set to strengthen its electric SUV lineup. The company’s third-born electric SUV, the Mahindra XEV 9S, will be launched in India tomorrow, 27 November 2025, during the ‘Scream Electric’ event in Bengaluru. This will be India’s first mainstream 7-seater electric SUV, positioned as the electric alternative to the XUV700. Built on the INGLO platform, this SUV will offer a perfect blend of space, sophistication, and performance with a family-oriented design. Prices will be announced at launch and are expected to range between ₹21 lakh and ₹30 lakh (ex-showroom). Let’s take a look at the details revealed so far…

Design Details

The design of the XEV 9S is inspired by the XUV700, but being fully electric, it looks more aerodynamic and premium. At the front, it features slim LED DRLs with a full-width light bar, split headlamps, and Mahindra’s new butterfly logo. On the sides, you’ll see flush door handles, dual-tone alloy wheels, and sporty side skirts. At the rear, it gets smoked LED taillamps and cleaner, more refined surfaces. Its length is around 4.8 meters, slightly longer than the XUV700, to offer better space in the third row. It is expected to be available in 6- or 7-seater configurations, featuring sliding and reclining seats in the first and second rows. Thanks to the flat-floor design, accessing the third row becomes easier.

Interior

The cabin of the XEV 9S is tech-rich and resembles the XEV 9e in many ways. The triple-screen setup includes a digital driver display, a central infotainment screen, and a dedicated passenger screen. For rear passengers, there are BYOD-style (Bring Your Own Device) screen holders for entertainment. Other features include a massive panoramic sunroof, ventilated and powered front seats, multi-color ambient lighting, a Harman Kardon audio system, a head-up display, Groove Me mode, remote parking, dual-zone climate control, multiple wireless chargers, and connected car technology. The ‘Boss Mode’ function allows the front passenger seat to slide forward, creating extra legroom in the second row. The driver’s seat comes with three memory presets. Boot space has been expanded with a dual-cargo area, and rear AC vents add to passenger comfort.

Safety Features

Safety equipment includes Level-2 ADAS, multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, a 360-degree camera, TPMS, and front & rear parking sensors.

Battery, Motor & Range

Talking about the powertrain, the XEV 9S will come with two battery pack options — 59 kWh and 79 kWh (LFP batteries). The smaller battery delivers 231 PS of power and offers a 542 km (MIDC) range. The larger one produces 286 PS power with 380 Nm torque and provides a 656 km range. Both variants get a standard RWD setup, while an AWD option may be introduced later. Fast charging support will also be available.
