The popularity of electric vehicles is increasing day by day in the country. There is a growing trend among people towards electric scooters, bikes, and cars. Compared to petrol and diesel vehicles, EVs can be easily charged at home or at charging stations, making travel convenient.
It is also affordable, which is why the use of electric vehicles is increasing in India. Startups are playing a crucial role in the EV segment. Especially, electric scooters are becoming increasingly popular.
In the EV sector, leading automobile companies are also launching new models. It is worth mentioning that India's leading company, Tata Motors, is currently selling four electric cars. Meanwhile, new information has emerged regarding the charging of electric vehicles.
Simactricals, a startup company from IIT Kanpur, is developing a wireless charger for electric vehicles: Until now, you had to connect the charging wire to electric vehicles to charge the battery. However, now there is no need for that.
Similar to wireless charging for phones, wireless charging for EVs is also being developed. Startup company Simactricals has announced that it is developing a wireless charging system at the IIT Kanpur Incubation and Innovation Center (SIIC).
In October 2020, the established startup company Simactricals had raised approximately 7.5 million rupees in funding. Additionally, the company also received a grant of 4.4 million rupees as part of a subsidy from the government.
Simactricals has designed a wireless charging system for two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and four-wheelers. According to the company, this system can be used to charge warehouse bots, rovers, and drones.
The company has developed wireless charging for drones as its first prototype within 45 days, as part of an initial project with the Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) focused on defense research and development.
This technology can be developed for wireless charging for aircraft as well. Simactricals has laid the foundation to promote environmentally friendly EVs. Mihir Mishra, the founder of Simactricals, said, 'Simactricals is working to make innovation and charging systems seamless.
Mihir Mishra said, 'This wireless charging technology will play a crucial role in convenience and efficiency. He mentioned that charging will be faster with this system. Currently, Simactricals is demonstrating the capacity of its wireless charging basic infrastructure.
In addition, he said, 'Simactricals has partnered with two-wheeler and three-wheeler vehicle manufacturers and is making several significant efforts to simplify the development and charging technology of EVs.
