Renault and Nissan's Upcoming Midsize SUV

French company Renault and its Japanese partner company Nissan are preparing to launch their new midsize SUVs in India by 2025. This includes Renault's new Duster and a new vehicle from Nissan, whose name has not yet been revealed. It is likely that both these vehicles will have a lot in common.

Both upcoming SUVs will be based on the same platform, CMF-B, and will have the same engine. Additionally, there will be many other similarities. However, the two vehicles will target different markets. Renault's focus will be on the Indian market, while Nissan's model will be aimed at exports. Let's learn more about both of them.

Price

Full details about the vehicles are not yet available, but according to reports, Nissan's new SUV might be more expensive and premium compared to the Renault Duster. Additionally, its starting price is likely to be higher than that of the Renault Duster.

Competition

On the other hand, the Renault Duster will compete with affordable midsize SUVs like the MG Astor and Maruti Grand Vitara. Meanwhile, Nissan's SUV will compete with vehicles such as the Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun.

Engine Options

Both SUVs will likely offer three petrol engine options. These include a 1.0-liter HR10, a 1.3-liter HR13 turbo-petrol, and a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine. The entry-level 1.5 NA engine might be exclusive to the Duster, while the Nissan SUV will feature more premium equipment in its top variant.

Design

The images of the upcoming Renault Duster and the new Nissan SUV were released in March. These pictures reveal that the Renault Duster features a revised headlight design and a newly designed front bumper.

Meanwhile, Nissan's upcoming SUV will have L-shaped LED DRLs connected by an LED light bar at the front. However, both models will feature brand-specific styling to distinguish them from each other.

Future Plans

According to reports, both SUVs will be exported, but Nissan's model will have a greater focus on exports. Both companies are expected to launch a 7-seater SUV in India by 2026, with Renault's vehicle likely to be priced lower.
