Renault's New Hybrid Car Spotted During Testing, Set to Rival Maruti Grand Vitara!

Renault's sales in the Indian market may not be stellar, but the company is consistently working on expanding its lineup. The French automaker is making every effort to enhance its presence and sales in India. Recently, Renault announced substantial discounts on its Kwid, Kiger, and Triber models.

Additionally, the company is testing a new hybrid car along with the Duster SUV. In India, Renault has started testing the new Austral Hybrid car. This car was recently spotted in Chennai.

However, this is not the first time a car has been tested under the Renault-Nissan partnership. Previously, new models such as the Renault Koleos, Renault Arkana, and the updated Nissan X-Trail have also been tested.

Renault Austral Hybrid features

The company has not yet shared any official information regarding the launch of the Austral Hybrid car. However, it is likely that this car will be launched in India.

The Renault Austral is being developed in partnership with Nissan. The new car will be a large crossover SUV based on the latest CMF-CD platform. Talking about the dimensions of the Austral, its length is 4,510 mm, width is 1,644 mm, and it has a wheelbase of 2,667 mm.

Renault Austral Design

Talking about the design of the car, it is quite attractive in appearance. At the front, it features a bold Renault logo, sleek LED headlights, C-shaped LED DRLs, a chrome grille, and 20-inch alloy wheels.

In the cabin of the Austral, there is a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment screen, a 12.3-inch instrumentation cluster screen, a 9.3-inch head-up display, and a Harman audio system. According to reports, for passenger safety, it will feature an ADAS suite and a 360-degree camera. The boot capacity of this car will be 575 liters.

Powertrain

Speaking of the powertrain of the Renault Austral, it will be equipped with a 1.3-liter turbo petrol engine. This engine is paired with a 400V hybrid system connected to a 2kWh battery. This setup generates a power output of 200 bhp. This means the car will run on both petrol and battery power.

If this car comes to India, it will likely achieve good sales due to its hybrid setup. It will compete in the Indian market against popular hybrid SUVs like the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Highlander.
