The demand for compact SUVs is at its peak in the Indian auto market. Taking advantage of this trend, the country's popular automakers are continuously launching new products. Recently, Skoda launched its most affordable SUV, the Kylaq. Meanwhile, Kia also introduced the Syros with several segment-first features. Let’s take a closer look at both these SUVs.
Design
Both SUVs have been designed with a futuristic design language. Talking about the Kia Syros, it comes equipped with LED headlamps, DRLs, and L-shaped LED taillights. Additionally, it features 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, flush-fitting door handles, and faux skid plates.
On the other hand, the Skoda Kylaq features a split headlamp setup with LED DRLs on the top and LED projector headlamps positioned below. It is equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, and the rear gets rectangular tail lamps, enhancing the SUV's premium look.
Dimensions
The Skoda Kylaq has a length of 3,995 mm, a width of 1,783 mm, and a height of 1,619 mm. The car comes with a wheelbase of 2,566 mm and offers 189 mm of ground clearance.
Meanwhile, the Kia Syros also has a length of 3,995 mm, but it is slightly wider at 1,800 mm and taller at 1,665 mm. Its wheelbase is 2,550 mm.
Interior
The Kylaq features a tri-screen setup, which includes a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment display, a 12.3-inch digital driver display, and a 5-inch climate control display. It is also equipped with premium features such as a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, a wireless phone charger, and ambient lighting.
On the other hand, the Skoda Kylaq, being a budget-friendly SUV, offers plenty of features. It comes with a 10-inch touchscreen with wireless connectivity and an 8-inch digital driver display. Additionally, it features ventilated front seats, electrically adjustable driver and co-driver seats, keyless entry, leatherette upholstery, and ambient lighting.
Engine and Performance
The Skoda Kylaq is powered by a single 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine. This powertrain delivers a maximum power output of 115 PS and a peak torque of 178 Nm. It is available with a choice of a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque-converter automatic transmission.
Meanwhile, the Kia Syros comes with two engine options
a 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine and a 1.5-liter diesel powertrain. The turbo-petrol engine produces 118 BHP of power and 172 Nm of torque. The 1.5-liter diesel engine, on the other hand, generates 114 BHP of power and 250 Nm of torque.
