Skoda India is all set to launch an affordable SUV in the domestic market soon. The company has named it Skoda Kylaq, and its starting price will be under ₹10 lakh. The prototype of the Kylaq has now been revealed. Let’s find out what makes it special.
Design of Skoda Kylaq
Skoda's smallest SUV yet comes with LED projector headlamps and Skoda’s signature design featuring a vertically slatted radiator grille. Additionally, the compact SUV gets daytime running lights.
As for the side profile, it has chunky door handles and 16-inch alloy wheels. The rear comes with sharp fin antennas, LED indicators, and rear lights. Since the SUV is still camouflaged, it’s a bit difficult to uncover all the design details at this stage. Dimensions: As mentioned, this will be Skoda’s smallest SUV. The length of the Skoda Kylaq is 3995 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,566 mm and a ground clearance of 189 mm.
Interior and Features
The interior of the car is also kept under wraps for now. However, we can see that the Kylaq comes with front-ventilated seats, power adjustment, and climate control features. For safety, it will offer standard 6 airbags, ABS, ESC, and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
Engine
The Skoda Kylaq will be equipped with a 1.0-liter, 3-cylinder TSI petrol engine, designed for performance and fuel efficiency. It will deliver a maximum power of 114 bhp and peak torque of 178 Nm. This powertrain will be available with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or an automatic unit.
Competitors
In the budget SUV segment, the Skoda Kylaq will compete with cars like Hyundai Venue, Kia Seltos, Tata Punch, Nissan Magnite, and Maruti Suzuki Fronx. These vehicles also have starting prices under ₹10 lakh.
