The Tata Altroz is now even more powerful, launched with new variants and features.

Tata Motors has launched the Altroz Racer. Additionally, the company has updated the older Altroz hatchback with two new top-spec trims, XZ LUX and XZ+S LUX. Besides this, the company has also added several new features to the top model XZ+ OS trim of the Altroz hatchback, and its price has been increased accordingly.

Price

Speaking of the prices of these new updated models, the XZ LUX starts at 9 lakh rupees, while the XZ+S LUX starts at 9.65 lakh rupees.

Meanwhile, the price of the top model XZ+ OS trim of the Altroz hatchback has been increased to 9.99 lakh rupees (ex-showroom), which is 34,000 rupees higher than the previous price.

Features

Although the price of the XZ+ OS trim has increased, it now includes several new features. These features include Tata's in-car connectivity technology, an air purifier, a new 10.25-inch touchscreen, a 360-degree camera, wireless Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay.

Variants and Configurations

The new Altroz is offered in various variants, including petrol-manual, petrol-dual clutch transmission (DCT), CNG-manual transmission (MT), and diesel-manual transmission. However, the top model Altroz XZ+ OS is currently available only in petrol.

The new car includes many features such as an electric sunroof, cruise control, rear AC vents, auto climate control, 90-degree opening doors, auto headlamps, and rain-sensing wipers. Meanwhile, leather seats will now be available only in the Altroz Racer.

Engine

The Altroz will continue to offer two engine options as before an 88-horsepower 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol engine and a 90-horsepower 1.5-liter four-cylinder diesel engine.

A CNG kit option is also available with the petrol engine. The previously available 110-horsepower 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine (i-Turbo) has now been discontinued. In terms of transmission, the petrol engine comes with a 5-speed manual and an optional 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

DriveSpark's opinion

Tata Motors has aimed to compete with cars like the Hyundai i20 and Maruti Baleno by launching the Altroz with more features, safety, and design than before.
