Mercedes-Benz will launch the updated version of its best-selling car. The 2024 Mercedes E-Class LWB has now been introduced in the Indian market. It has recorded the highest sales in the German portfolio compared to any other luxury car. Let’s learn more about it.
Design
Talking about the front, the radiator grille features the iconic Mercedes tri-star logo. On either side of the grille, there are LED high-performance headlamps and daytime running lights. The E-Class comes with 18-inch, 5-spoke alloy wheels. It also has flush door handles, Maybach-inspired rear-quarter glass, and LED tail lights with an updated design. This premium sedan from Mercedes will be available in five body color options: Silver, Grey, Black, White, and Blue. Its bookings are expected to start soon.
Dimensions
The updated Mercedes E-Class LWB has seen several changes. The size of the sedan has further increased. Its length has grown by 14 mm, the wheelbase by 15 mm, and the height by 13 mm. These may seem like minor increases on paper, but the model's total length is now close to 5,100 mm.
Features
The new E-Class comes with 64-color ambient lighting, featuring 10-color themes. For rear-seat passengers, there is wireless phone charging, a power-closing function on all four doors, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree parking camera, and a selfie camera on the dashboard for photo-taking and video conferencing.
Powertrain
The Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB (Long Wheelbase) is powered by a 4-cylinder petrol engine and a 4-cylinder diesel engine, both paired with a 9G automatic transmission unit. To improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions, the car is equipped with a 48V hybrid system. It can run up to 100 km on battery power alone.
Launch Date
Bookings for the 2024 E-Class LWB will start soon this month, with some units expected to be delivered by Diwali or earlier. The estimated price of the latest edition of the Mercedes E-Class will range from ₹80 lakh to ₹90 lakh (ex-showroom). Currently, the E-Class LWB is priced between ₹76 lakh and ₹89 lakh (before taxes).
Competitors
The Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB has been quite popular in the Indian luxury car market. Its direct competitor is the recently launched BMW 5 Series LWB. In this segment, it will also compete with luxury cars like the Audi A6 and Jaguar XF.
