What is eChallan?

Essentially, it's an electronically generated fine notice for any road violations. Users are required to make the fine payment online. This system enhances clarity and transparency while preventing revenue loss for the state.

How to pay eChallan?

Every user has the option to pay their eChallan through the official website, echallan.parivahan.gov.in. Below are the step-by-step guidelines for processing your challan on the portal:

  1. Open the website in the browser echallan.parivahan.gov.in
  2. Enter Username & Password and Login
  3. Enter your challan no/ vehicle no/DL no. on the form
  4. Fill in the captcha for authentication purposes
  5. Click on Get Details button
  6. All information related to challan would be displayed among with offense and challan amount
  7. Proceed with payment
  8. After the payment, automated message you will get on your mobile with the transaction ID

Users can pay challan through offline mode in Delhi

Users can go to the Delhi police headquarters at, Dev Prakash Shastri Marg, PUSA, New Delhi 110012 with all the relevant documents.

  1. Driving License
  2. ID & Address Proof
  3. Letter of Violation (Challan Copy)

Payment can be made through DD/ cheque/ Pay order by post at the Delhi Police Headquarters

DD or Cheque should be in favor of DCP/ Traffic (HQs)

About Lok Adalats

Lok Adalats are special court sessions presided over by a magistrate for challan hearings. In Delhi, the police hold Lok Adalats four times a year. During these sessions, users have the opportunity to request a reduction in the challan amount or seek remittance, presenting their case in front of the magistrate.

How to Apply for Lok Adalats sessions for challan

  1. Open the Delhi police website and book your slot for the upcoming lot Adalat as per the date mentioned.
  2. Carry a printout of the notice or confirmation copy.
  3. Reach the location of Lok Adalat that would be mentioned in the slip
  4. Show the challan in front of the magistrate and appeal to reduce or remit the challan amount.

Impact to don’t pay Traffic challan

  1. As per law, if you don’t pay challan in 60 days. The police officer can come to your address/ location to collect the amount.
  2. In case of nonavailability at home, the court will send a summon to you.
  3. If you don’t respond to the summon, your DL will be suspended
