Skoda first introduced its full-size SUV, the Skoda Kodiaq, in India in 2016. The model received its first mid-life update in January 2022, followed by a BS6 Stage 2 engine upgrade in May 2023. Meanwhile, the second generation of the Skoda Kodiaq was globally unveiled last October.
It seems that Skoda could soon launch the second generation model of its Kodiaq SUV in India. Recently, test mules of the new Kodiaq have been spotted in India, indicating that its launch here could be imminent. Let's find out more about the upcoming new Skoda Kodiaq.
New Skoda Kodiaq Design
From the photos seen during testing, it's evident that there have been significant changes made to the car's design. Additionally, this new model is expected to be larger than the current model.
The upcoming Kodiaq SUV will be slightly larger and feature square wheel arches, a prominent hexagonal grille, a sculpted bonnet, a redesigned Skoda logo, and new alloy wheels. The headlights have also been redesigned.
A radar is now visible at the front of the car, which means that the vehicle may feature Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) features.
At the rear, there are C-shaped taillights and "Skoda" written in the middle. Inside, there will be a 13-inch freestanding touchscreen on the dashboard. Although the cabin is not visible in the photos seen during testing, it is likely to be similar to the European-spec Kodiaq.
The interior will feature a fully digital instrument cluster and three new 'Smart Dials'. An external rotary knob will manage climate control for both the driver and passengers, while the central infotainment volume, driving modes, map zoom, and air conditioning adjustments will be controlled centrally.
New Skoda Kodiaq Engine
The new Kodiaq is expected to feature the existing model's 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. This engine generates 187.5bhp and 320Nm of torque, but it could be tuned for better performance in the new model.
This engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, which delivers power to all four wheels. Therefore, there is hope that this car will receive a more powerful engine, making it an even more favored option.
New Skoda Kodiaq Price
Currently, the Kodiaq is only available in the fully loaded L&K variant, priced at ₹39.99 lakh (ex-showroom). With the addition of new features and updates in the new Kodiaq, an increase in its price can be expected.
