Maruti Cars Struggle for Buyers, Including SUV Rivaling Mahindra Thar

The demand for cars in the Indian market is increasing day by day, and Maruti Suzuki cars are particularly popular. The company's lineup includes several cars with different prices and features. On one hand, cars like Wagon R, Maruti Swift, Ertiga, and Grand Vitara are selling well. However, some models are struggling to find buyers.

Yes, Maruti Suzuki's lineup includes the Ciaz, Jimny, and Invicto, which customers are not favoring much. According to the September car sales report, only 662 units of the Ciaz, 599 units of the Jimny, and just 312 units of the Invicto were sold.

While other Maruti cars are selling in thousands, these three models are struggling to find buyers. Auto experts suggest that the prices of these cars are higher compared to their competitors, which is why their sales are low. The Maruti Suzuki Jimny is an affordable compact off-roader in India, priced between ₹12.74 lakh and ₹14.95 lakh (ex-showroom). It is powered by a 1.5-liter petrol engine producing 105 PS and 134 Nm.

This SUV offers a 5-speed manual transmission and a 4-speed automatic transmission with a low-range gearbox. To enhance off-roading, it comes with a 360-degree approach angle, a 50-degree departure angle, and a brake-limited slip differential. However, it has failed to compete against the Mahindra Thar.

Maruti Suzuki Invicto

The Maruti Suzuki Invicto is available in two trims, Zeta+ and Alpha+. It offers a 7-8 seater configuration option. The Invicto is powered by a robust 2-liter hybrid engine that produces 152 PS of power and 188 Nm of torque.

In the Indian market, its price ranges from ₹25.21 lakh to ₹28.92 lakh (ex-showroom). It is based on the Toyota Innova. Features include a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch digital driver display, dual-zone climate control, ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, and a panoramic sunroof. For passenger safety, it provides six airbags, vehicle stability control, a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and a 360-degree camera.

Maruti Ciaz

The demand for the Ciaz in the Indian market is quite low. Its price ranges from ₹9.40 lakh to ₹12.40 lakh (ex-showroom). It comes with a 1.5-liter petrol engine paired with mild-hybrid technology, producing 105 PS of power and 138 Nm of torque. The Ciaz offers both a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic gearbox option, delivering a mileage of around 20 kmpl.
