Maruti Suzuki recently unveiled the Fronx Flex Fuel variant at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show. With the addition of flex-fuel technology, the Fronx will not only help in emission control but also deliver better mileage and performance. The model is expected to launch in India by March 2026. Let’s take a closer look at its design, interior, features, safety, and powertrain details.
Design
The Maruti Fronx Flex Fuel design is almost identical to the standard Fronx, but a few key changes make it stand out. Externally, it retains the coupe-style SUV silhouette, featuring a NexWave grille with black and silver accents. The bumper-mounted LED headlamps and crystal-clear LED DRLs add to its sporty appearance. The Flex Fuel variant also gets “Flex Fuel” badging on the bonnet and sporty side decals, highlighting its eco-friendly character.
In terms of dimensions, the Fronx Flex Fuel measures 3995 mm in length, 1765 mm in width, 1550 mm in height, and has a 2520 mm wheelbase. Its 190 mm ground clearance ensures a comfortable ride on Indian roads. The SUV will be available in 10 colour options, including Earthen Brown, Arctic White, Bluish Black, Splendid Silver, Grandeur Grey, Opulent Red, and Nexa Blue.
Interior
The interior of the Fronx Flex Fuel follows a dual-tone theme, giving it a premium and modern vibe. The dashboard features horizontal linear embossed patterns with metallic accents. A flat-bottom, leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters enhances the driving experience. The dual-tone upholstery provides both comfort and style, making it ideal for long drives. The cabin feels spacious, and it offers a 308-litre boot space for luggage.
Features
The Fronx Flex Fuel is loaded with advanced features. It comes with a 9-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Music enthusiasts will appreciate the 6-speaker Arkamys Surround Sound System. For convenience and safety, it also includes a 360-degree view camera for easier parking and cruise control for comfortable highway driving.
The Auto Gear Shift (AGS) technology allows switching between manual and automatic modes, while the Idle Start-Stop (ISS) system helps improve fuel efficiency by reducing idling fuel consumption.
Safety
The Fronx Flex Fuel comes equipped with six standard airbags, ensuring complete protection for both the driver and passengers. It also features Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Electronic Stability Program (ESP) as standard. Hill Hold Assist and rear parking sensors are available even in the base variants, while the top variants are equipped with ISOFIX child seat mounts for enhanced child safety. It is also expected that Maruti Suzuki may offer this model with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) features in the future.
Engine and Mileage
The biggest highlight of the Fronx Flex Fuel is its powertrain. It is powered by a 1.2-litre K-Series Dual Jet, Dual VVT petrol engine, specially tuned to run on flex fuel. This engine can handle an E85 blend (85% ethanol and 15% petrol), which is far more advanced than the current E20 fuel standard in India.
It produces 89 bhp of power and 113 Nm of torque, paired with two transmission options — a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed automatic (AGS). The estimated mileage of the Fronx Flex Fuel is around 30 km/l, making it one of the most fuel-efficient compact SUVs in its class.
