Not ₹9.99 Lakh, Here's the Real Price of the MG Windsor EV
MG Motor recently launched the Windsor EV in India, the company's third electric vehicle (EV) after the Comet and ZS EV. This crossover-style electric hatchback is priced at ₹9.99 lakh, excluding the battery cost. MG also offers a unique plan to rent the battery at a rate of ₹3.5 per kilometer.
The Windsor has three variants
Excite, Exclusive, and Essence. All variants come with a front-mounted electric motor producing 136hp and 200Nm of peak torque. The EV is equipped with a 38kWh battery pack, offering a claimed range of 331 km on a full charge.
MG Windsor Excite Variant Details
The base Excite variant is priced at ₹9.99 lakh and features LED projector headlamps with DRLs, LED tail lamps, an illuminated front logo, and 17-inch steel wheels with wheel covers. It also has flush door handles, a glass antenna, a front armrest, fabric seats with a 60:40 rear seat split, and adjustable headrests for both front and rear seats. Additional features include an LED luggage lamp, rear AC vents, an LED front reading light, and a 10.1-inch touchscreen with steering-mounted controls.
The Excite variant also includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto through six speakers. Charging options include a 3.3kW portable charging cable and a 3.3kW AC home charging box.
MG Windsor Exclusive Variant Details
The Exclusive variant offers several upgrades over the Excite model. These include 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and a chrome window beltline for added style.
MG Windsor Interior Upgrades
The interior is upgraded with leatherette material on the steering wheel, dashboard, and seats. Additional features include an LED rear reading light, a larger 15.6-inch touchscreen paired with an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster. This variant also offers an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, smart flush door handles, and power-folding ORVMs (Outside Rear View Mirrors). Comfort is further enhanced by advanced technology such as a rear armrest with cupholders and a 360-degree camera system.
MG Windsor Essence Variant Details
The top-tier Essence variant builds upon the Exclusive model and adds ambient lighting in the cabin, along with a PM2.5 filter to improve air quality inside the car. The audio experience is elevated with an Infinity nine-speaker system. Charging capability is enhanced with the inclusion of a fast 7.4kW AC charger. Other premium features include a glass roof for an open-air feel and ventilated front seats to ensure comfort during hot weather.
The MG Windsor faces competition from other electric SUVs like the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV400, and the recently launched Curve EV, though it doesn’t have a direct rival in this segment.
