Luxury car manufacturer Rolls-Royce has officially launched its first electric car, Spectre, in the Indian market. The electric car has been introduced in North India, featuring an attractive design, powerful battery pack, and luxurious features, with a starting price of INR 7.5 crores (ex-showroom).
Rolls-Royce sells its cars through showrooms in three cities in India, namely Delhi, Chennai, and Hyderabad. The company reported a 100% increase in its car sales in 2023 and noted strong demand continuing into the current year. Yadur Kapoor, CEO of Rolls-Royce's retail partner Select Motors in the capital, said, "As we progress and the economy strengthens, the demand for luxury cars will increase."
Rolls-Royce Spectre, with its stunning look and luxurious features, claims the title of India's most expensive electric car. The company has also started official bookings for this electric vehicle.
Rolls-Royce has given Spectre a traditional design, based on the familiar Rolls-Royce silhouette and design elements found in the Phantom Coupe. It features a clean front profile and a long bonnet with a fastback tail. The company describes this car as inspired by modern yacht design, with a substantial size measuring 5,475 mm in length and 2,017 mm in width.
The car boasts 22 LED lights that enhance its beauty, and the iconic Rolls-Royce logo, the Spirit of Ecstasy, has been aerodynamically tuned. The bonnet grille of Spectre is slightly inclined compared to a regular Rolls-Royce, deviating from the flat and straight-nose design.
Rolls-Royce Spectre is equipped with split headlamp design, a Pantheon grille with LED lighting, the Spirit of Ecstasy logo, 23-inch wheels, and a sloping roofline. Even the rear portion has been designed with great attention to detail, featuring vertical LED taillights with chrome inserts.
Talking about the cabin, Spectre's interior is similar to the existing Rolls-Royce models. A unique feature is the inclusion of the Starlight Liner, previously available only on the roof, now integrated into the door pads. There is also an option to choose wood paneling for the doors. Another distinctive feature of Spectre is the dashboard panel on the passenger side.
The interior of Spectre has another significant change – the use of Rolls-Royce's new software platform called 'Spirit.' Rolls-Royce had been using BMW's infotainment software until now, but with Spectre, the company has introduced its own 'Spirit' software platform. It is a new digital interface for connected car technology, controlling all the car's features. Another unique feature in this car is the ability to change the color of the dial on the dashboard using a specific feature.
The car's cabin, featuring the Starlight Liner, provides a feeling of an open sky from the inside. Lights are also used on the door panels. The cabin blends modern and traditional luxury seamlessly.
Customization options include the possibility to customize coach doors with Candel Paneling, named after the French Riviera where Sir Henry Royce and his design team spent their winters. The electric car weighs 2,975 kilograms, with dimensions measuring 5,453 mm in length, 2,080 mm in width, and 1,559 mm in height.
Rolls-Royce Spectre is powered by an electric motor generating 575 bhp of power and 900 Nm of torque, providing double the power compared to many prominent SUVs with internal combustion engines. With the electric motor, the luxurious car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds. The car features a powerful 102-kWh battery pack, and the company claims a range of 520 km on a single charge.
Charging the battery is quick, with the help of a 195 kW charger taking only 34 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%. Using a 50 kW DC charger, the battery takes 95 minutes to charge.
