The French company Citroen has been shunned by customers

The sales of the French car manufacturer Citroen have been continuously declining. Citroen entered the Indian market in 2021. Since entering the domestic market, Citroen has been struggling with sales. It seems that the company's products are not particularly appealing to customers.

Recently, the company released the sales figures for July. You might be surprised to learn that despite having 4 cars in its portfolio, Citroen managed to sell only 355 units in July 2024. Overall, the situation of all four of the company's models appears to be quite precarious.

Citroen launched its first car, the C5 Aircross SUV, in the Indian market in 2021. Currently, Citroen sells four cars in India, including the C5 Aircross, the C3 hatchback, the eC3 electric hatchback, and the C3 Aircross midsize SUV.

Citroen car sales continue to decline

This is not the first month when Citroen cars have not sold. Previously, in June 2024, only 339 units were sold. Additionally, not a single unit of the company's lead model, the C5 Aircross, was sold.

In July 2024, 90 units of the C3 hatchback and 68 units of the C3 Aircross were sold. Meanwhile, 177 units of the eC3 electric hatchback were sold. Overall, the condition of all the cars is still weak.

Looking at the overall sales of the French brand Citroen, the Citroen C5 Aircross was launched in April 2021 at an ex-showroom price of ₹29.90 lakh. In its first month, 230 units of this car were sold, but in the subsequent months, sales declined to double digits.

Citroen had high expectations for the C3 hatchback, which was introduced in the domestic market in July 2022. Priced at ₹5.71 lakh ex-showroom, this car sold 1,386 units in September 2022. However, its condition also deteriorated in the following months.

Hopes Rest on Citroen Basalt Coupe SUV

After the continuous decline in car sales, Citroen has high expectations for its upcoming Basalt Coupe-style SUV. Yes, the company is set to launch its new Basalt SUV Coupe this month.

The company has already revealed the exterior and interior of this car. It is expected that this car will be offered at an affordable price. According to reports, the starting price of this SUV could be around ₹10 lakh (ex-showroom).
