Skoda Kylaq is set to be launched in the Indian market tomorrow, November 6. This is expected to be the Czech automaker's most affordable SUV in the Indian market. Let's take a look at the details revealed so far about this upcoming car.
Expected Design
Skoda India has released a teaser of the Kylaq SUV before the launch. Interestingly, the company sought help from Rohit Shetty to create this advertisement. The teaser shows that it will feature modern design elements, including stylish tail lamps with Kylaq badging at the rear and upgraded headlamps.
Expected Features
The Skoda Kylaq is set to have an interior inspired by the popular Skoda Kushaq SUV and Slavia sedan. It is expected to include modern features like a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charger, digital instrument cluster, adjustable rear AC vents, Type-C USB ports on both the front and rear and an electric sunroof.
Safety
The Skoda Kylaq is built on the company’s MQB-A0-IN platform. In terms of safety, the car is expected to receive a 5-star safety rating in the Global NCAP crash test. Skoda’s existing models in the Indian market, such as the Slavia and Kushaq, have already earned 5-star safety ratings.
Engine and Performance
Skoda’s upcoming sub-4-meter compact SUV will be the brand's most affordable car. It is expected to come with a 1.0-liter TSI petrol engine, producing 114 bhp and 178 Nm of torque. Buyers will likely have a choice between a 6-speed AMT or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
Competition
As an affordable SUV in the Indian market, the Skoda Kylaq will compete in its segment with models like the Maruti Brezza, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Toyota Taisor, Maruti Fronx, and Mahindra XUV300. Its starting ex-showroom price is expected to be below ₹8 lakh.
