There is a strong demand for SUVs in the Indian auto market. After the recent GST update, sales in this segment have increased even further. Talking about sales in September 2025, the Hyundai Creta secured the first position, while the Toyota Hyryder saw a remarkable surge in sales. Let’s take a look at the top-selling SUVs from last month.
Hyundai Creta/EV
Topping the list is the Hyundai Creta, which gained 18,861 new customers last month. Compared to the 15,902 units sold in September 2024, this marks an impressive year-on-year growth of 18%.
After the implementation of GST 2.0, its starting ex-showroom price has dropped to just ₹10,72,589. The company offers it with premium features such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 10.25-inch digital driver display, Bose 8-speaker sound system, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone automatic AC, wireless phone charger, and keyless entry.
For safety, it comes equipped with 6 airbags, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS.
Toyota Hyryder
In second place in terms of sales is the Toyota Hyryder. Last month, a total of 7,608 units of this hybrid SUV were sold. Compared to the 5,385 units sold in September 2024, this represents an impressive 41% year-on-year growth.
Kia Seltos
Taking the third spot on the list is the Kia Seltos, with 5,816 units sold last month. However, compared to 6,959 units sold in September 2024, this indicates a 16% decline in year-on-year sales.
Maruti Victorious
The newly launched Maruti Victorious made a strong debut in the market. Last month, it attracted 4,261 new buyers, making it one of the top 5 best-selling SUVs in the country right after its launch.
Apart from the top 5 models mentioned above, other SUVs also recorded notable sales in September 2025:
- Honda Elevate: 2,199 units
- Mahindra BE 6: 1,701 units
- Tata Curvv/EV: 1,566 units
- Volkswagen Taigun: 1,114 units
- Skoda Kushaq: 769 units
- MG ZS EV: 250 units
- Citroen Basalt: 210 units
- Mahindra XUV400 EV: 149 units
- MG Astor: 90 units
- Citroen C3 Aircross: only 59 units
These figures highlight the growing competition in the SUV segment, with both hybrid and electric models contributing significantly to India’s evolving car market.
