Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite are two popular options in
the Indian car market under the Sub-4 Meter SUV segment. Both cars are based on
the same CMF-A+ platform and share many similarities. However, when it comes to
design, features, and pricing, there are some differences. Let’s take a closer
look at which of these two might be a better choice.
Price
The Renault Kiger starts at around ₹6.30 lakh (ex-showroom)
and goes up to ₹11.30 lakh for the top model. On the other hand, the Nissan
Magnite is priced slightly lower at the base, starting from ₹6.14 lakh
(ex-showroom), while its top variant goes up to ₹11.92 lakh. This makes the
Magnite’s entry-level model more affordable than the Kiger, though its higher
variants are slightly more expensive. Overall, both cars are attractive in
terms of budget, but the Magnite has a slight edge for buyers looking for the
lowest starting price.
Design
The Renault Kiger has a sporty design with sleek lines,
split headlamps, and a pointed grille featuring the new 2D logo. It comes with
LED projector headlamps, chrome detailing, and new 16-inch alloy wheels.
On the other hand, the Nissan Magnite carries a more
aggressive and muscular look, highlighted by its wide chrome grille,
boomerang-shaped DRLs, and diamond-cut alloy wheels. While the Kiger looks more
urban and stylish, the Magnite offers a bold, tough SUV-like appearance.
Interior & Features
Inside, the Kiger gets a premium feel with dual-tone (white
and black) seats, ventilated front seats, an 8-inch touchscreen with a 7-inch
digital driver’s display, wireless charging, automatic climate control, and
push-button start/stop. It also features a layered dashboard and wireless
connectivity options.
The Nissan Magnite, in comparison, has a tan and black theme
for its cabin, comes with a larger 9-inch touchscreen, and offers leatherette
seats.
The Magnite also comes with similar features, but its larger
9-inch infotainment system and 360-degree camera make it stand out a little.
Both SUVs support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and for safety, they
are equipped with 6 airbags. The Kiger offers a boot space of 405 liters, which
is 69 liters more than the Magnite’s 336 liters.
Engine & Performance
Both SUVs are powered by the same 1.0-liter petrol engine
(available in naturally aspirated and turbo versions). The naturally aspirated
engine produces 72 PS and 96 Nm of torque, while the turbo-petrol engine
delivers up to 100 PS and 160 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a
5-speed manual, AMT (for the naturally aspirated engine), and CVT (for the
turbo engine).
